Wealth

Anyway this is not our day's theme. Out topic is based on our heritage. This is the wealth that our ancestors left behind in time and space. This is the wealth that I cherish but it is now endangered. Folklore.

Mother Antelope

Once upon a time, there was peace and harmony in the world. There was Mother Antelope living with her siblings on the other side of the mountain. Across the mountain, lived Lions.

One day Mother Antelope warned the little ones. "Never ever cross over the mountain.

There are lions that side. Lions are not your relations. Lions are lions. Deadly. They can kill instantly without showing any mercy. Lions are your enemies. Lions are also enemies of people. The whole jungle stands still when lions roar. Please my children do not go that side in your life. Lions are lions."

Achimidzi

The little antelopes lashed at their Mother the other day. "She is old fashioned. Primitive. Uncivilised. How can she say lions are our enemies? Lets go and play with the cubs."

The little antelopes went up the mountain one day and saw the cubs playing. They went down and joined them.

They started playing hide and seek. Antelopes and lions in a game of chance. They jumped into a jumping castle. They rolled on the grass. They played Chipako. They had a mock wedding. Lions and antelopes for once became one. United in a theatre of illusion.

Borrowed glory

Time passed. The sun was setting. The little antelopes decided to return home. They bid farewell to the cubs.

They found Mother Antelope angry. A whip in her hand. She asked them where they had gone. They responded in unison. They had a nice time with the little lions.

She whipped them." You do not have ears! Lions are your enemies! "

On the other side, the cubs were busy enjoying and stating to Mother Lion that they had great fun with little antelopes with soft skin and horns! Mother lion kept quiet. Then she said; ''How can you let go of a seasonal delicacy? Antelopes are your food. You should have eaten them and not just played with them!''

One day, the little antelopes decided to defy the order of Mother antelope and went back to play with the cubs. They played all day as usual. As the sun was setting, the lion appeared and killed the little antelopes. Mother lion said, "eat them!"

She then collected the head of the antelopes and stood at the peak of the mountain and roared,"whose children are these?" The jungle was silent. Then Mother antelope said, "they are not my children. If they were my children they should have listened."
