Red Lions poised to take lead in TNM

TNM Super League - Malawi: Red Lions have the chance to lead the first round when they finish their two remaining games against fellow soldiers Mafco on Satruday and Moyale on Sunday at Chitowe in Dwangwa.

The Zomba-based soldiers are second on the log table with 27 points while leaders Silver Strikers, who wrapped up their first round games, have 31.

Red Lions need to win both games to take the lead but a draw and a win will see them tying with Silver on 31 points but the Bankers have a goal difference advantage.

The Reds have only lost once in 12 games in which they won eight and drew three.

Big Bullets, who are fifth with 24 points, can topple Mighty Wanderers on third position if they beat Kamuzu Barracks at Balaka Stadium in their last game of the first round tomorrow.

That will also depend on Red Lions winning or drawing one of their games.

Wanderers finished their first round with 26 points having dropped valuable points through four losses and two draws.

Last season's runners-up Escom United, managed to extricate themselves from the bottom of the table when they beat Mafco last week to perch at position 13 and they finish off the first round by hosting Epac tomorrow at Kalulu Stadium.

The former TNM Super League champions have 11 points from two wins, six losses and five draws.

Other teams that have finished their first round are Azam Tigers, Blantyre United, Civo United, Blue Eagles, Kabwafu and Bvumbwe Research.
