Double action on Sunday

sports1

Kamuzu Stadium will host two high profile games this Sunday when Bullets clash with Bvumbwe Research in the Presidential Cup quarterfinal and Escom host Kamuzu Barracks in TNM Super League.

Last week Sulom and Fam also agreed to have a Presidential Cup game and a Super League game take place at the stadium on the same day.

Bvumbwe beat Kabwafu 3-1 in an early kick-off before Bullets knocked out Silver Strikers in the Presidential Cup.

This week it will be an early kick-off between Escom and Kamuzu Barracks in the Super League before Bullets FC and Bvumbwe clash in the Presidential Cup quarterfinal match.

The game between Escom and Kamuzu Barracks was initially set for Balaka, but the hosts pleaded with Sulom to have the game played within Blantyre.

Sulom general secretary Williams Banda confirmed the change in the fixture yesterday. "They (Escom) wanted to cut costs by playing within Blantyre and we told them that the only option would be for them to play on Sunday before the Presidential Cup quarterfinal and they agreed, Banda said.

Fam commercial manager and media officer Casper Jangale, who is also Presidential Cup competition manager, confirmed the two fixtures.

Jangale said there were no plans to hike the gate charges.

"The aim is to have maximum entertainment for Blantyre football fans," he said.

"We will just sit down and see what we can do to make sure all the four clubs are happy with the arrangement."

Meanwhile, Escom will play their Presidential Cup quarterfinal against Mafco on Saturday at the same venue.

It's another bonus for the Blantyre football fans that will pay just K200 to watch the two high profile games.
