Super league defending champions Silver Strikers reclaimed the top position after mercilessly walloping Blantyre United 5-0 at Silver Stadium on Sunday.

The bankers were dislodged at the summit by Big Bullets who beat Civo 2-0 at Civo Stadium on Saturday.

They now have 54 points and are remaining with three games to finish the season while Bullets are second with 52 points and are remaining with two games.

The game started on a high note as both teams remained a threat to each other.

However, it was Silver who made good use of the scoring chances as they opened the floodgates in the 12th minute through Rodrick Gonani after he was set up by Frank Banda.

But Uni t ed could have responded in the 20th minute through Muhammad Sulumba whose effort went wide.

The side struggled midway the first half and their midfield failed to supply good balls to Sulumba, Sparrow Msowoya and Tizgowere Kumwenda.

Ten minutes to half time, Gonani added a second after he ghosted through United's defence.

In the 59th minute, Silver's Banda increased the tally after being put through by Harvey Mkacha. A minute later, Gonani added a fourth one to grab a hat trick.

Howeve r, United neve r relented and continued attacking but they were just unfortunate not to grab a consolation.

In the 89th minute, Banda completed the baptism when he connected a Peter Pindani corner kick from the left flank.
