LILONGWE based singer Skeffa Chimoto performed for the first time at Mibawa Café in Blantyre on Saturday night.

Since it opened, the now popular entertainment hub, has also hosted some top musicians including Erik Paliani, Lucius Banda and Masauko Chipembere but this was the first time for Skeffa to stage his performance.

Despite being Skeffa's first performance, he did not receive an attractive audience. But those who turned up enjoyed his vibes for close to 2 hours.

Skeffa with his Real Sounds Band are among the finest in live performances and they did the same on Saturday night such that the audience did not want them to leave the stage.

He dished songs from his new album Ndife Amodzi, Nabola Moyo, and Tisawanyoze.

Some of the songs people sampled from Ndife Amodzi album include 'Ulendo,' 'Ndakusowa,' 'Siungandichotse,' 'Sindilora,' and 'Chanu Sichanga.'

"I am happy with the support we received and it was a perfect time sharing the stage with Mibawa Band," said Skeffa.

Mibawa Band also performed warming the stage for Skeffa and while some people have called for the group to record their own songs, Mibawa Café boss John Nthakomwa says the group is not in a hurry to record an album.

"Plans are there for the group to produce an album but we are not rushing. The other thing is that much as people want Mibawa's original songs, our concept was for the band to be playing golden oldies songs. The ones which people miss them," said Nthakomwa.

He said it was because of playing those songs that the centre attracts everyone including the older generation.

Mibawa Band leader Lemekeza Phiri said apart from introducing Mibawa Band 2 last week, fans will continue to enjoy performances from other artists.
